BEST PRESENTATION

ROBERT FIETZE
UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN
HEIDI BOULANGER

My interest in design is rooted in an appreciation for the boundless potential of human innovation. I believe design is a radical act of optimism, a declaration of hope, and a commitment to creating a more beautiful, functional, and equitable world. This belief gives me the freedom to think and dream beyond the realities we live. It’s a pursuit shaped by shared experiences, a sense of belonging, and mutual understanding. Fundamentally, design is more than crafting for the future; it is the opportunity to create it.

MMABATHO MOKALAPA
UNIVERSITY OF WITWATERSRAND
KEVIN GONCALVES

My design philosophy centers on the connection between humanity and architecture, emphasizing that architecture must reflect the soul. I explore the dualities of heaven and earth, darkness and light, form and ephemerality, to create intimate spaces that slow time and enhance experience(s). I do this because I believe that is what binds us to life and to living, it is what drives my passion for architecture. I believe that architecture has the power to transform, add value, and revive the forgotten, reasons to which I aim to contribute meaningfully towards this field someday.
